Cory Fortenberry and Anna Greenlee are two Ole Miss students working at Camp Lake Stephens, a place where youth are mentored.
Greenlee enjoyed teaching.
“Seeing how much they could learn while having fun, made it fun for me,” she said.
Cory enjoyed seeing the youth talent who performed skits at the end of the week.
“It was fun seeing the youth do funny skits,” Fortenberry said, “then seeing the young adults do something more serious.”
Both have grown from the experience. The camp moved Greenlee.
“Being a camp counselor has given me invaluable experience as a future educator, and a spiritual guide for young people,” she said.
Fortenberry was moved in other ways. He learned more about himself and his own life.
“I learned that people come from different backgrounds,” he said. “People should be more open-mined about their own backgrounds as well.”
The two are heroes in this community and all around the state for their work with these kids.
