CVM is an Oxford hair salon on the Square that’s a little Cali, a little Vegas, and a little Mississippi.

The salon caters to men, women and children and offers  Davines, a product and color line from Italy.

Mississippi native Mandy Miller, owner of CVM, was a stylist in California for seven years. She spent a year in Las Vegas before returning to Mississippi in 2013.

Now, she is the head stylist at CVM and only styles women’s hair. She said Oxford has one of the best economies for her business.

“I love Oxford,” she said. “It’s the American dream to own your own company and be your own boss.”

Miller said she has wanted to become a stylist since she was “old enough to hold a brush in her hand.” She started CVM in September of 2013. A close friend recommended her to customers, and news spread.

Miller has about 25 clients a week who usually wait five to eight weeks before their next appointment.

“My seven years of experience in southern California has helped me in obtaining and keeping my clientele,” said Miller.

Miller said the southern California techniques she has brought to Oxford are unique. The salon is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. She is currently booked through January.

Jennifer Lasky is another stylist that works at CVM. She styles men and children’s hair.

“I think that CVM’s location on the Square definitely makes it stand alone,” she said, “and it has a really cool feel being in the heart of Oxford.”

Miller and Lasky both enjoy meeting new customers.

“I get to work with so many clients,” Lasky said. “They are all so different, and they make my job enjoyable day in and day out.”

Visit CVM, and you’ll also meet Sugar, a California rescue dog who stays at the shop during work hours and has never missed a day.

“Sugar has always been fun for me and my customers, and everybody just loves seeing him,” said Miller.
