Throughout spring semester, Ole Miss students are always searching for fun activities.  Without Saturdays in The Grove or watching football on The Square, spring semester provides an opportunity for students to spend their weekends trying new things.

The Ole Miss Student Activities Association, or SAA, has been integral in promoting campus life.  This spring’s main event is a concert featuring popular hip hop artist Gucci Mane.

SAA hopes to promote more campus involvement by hosting events like this one.

Sophomore business major Logan Cooper, 20, is one of the many students who has never attended an event hosted by SAA.  He does, however, plan to attend the upcoming spring concert.

“I actually haven’t been to an SAA sponsored event yet… Me and all of my buddies are planning to go though.  [Gucci Mane] is one of my favorite artists.”

Sophomore Integrated Marketing Communications major Alison Schatzle agrees.  She believes that events like the upcoming concert will encourage students to participate more actively in campus life.

“I think it’s great that SAA puts on a free concert because it encourages people to be more involved on campus, especially for those who usually aren’t.”

Schatzle and Cooper are just two of the many students who believe that Gucci Mane’s popularity will attract more people to the event and encourage students to participate in campus life.

“The popularity of this performer will also bring a lot more students to this event.” Cooper said. “It’s all around a good idea. I’m very excited.”
