What’s the hottest place in Oxford?

Oxford’s HotWorx studio.

HotWorx is a virtually instructed exercise program created for  users to experience different benefits of infrared sauna rooms while completing high intensity workouts.

The Oxford location is the town’s first and only 24-hour infrared fitness studio. It offers members unlimited access to a mixture of 15-minute or 30-minute hot exercise workouts.

With other fitness studios in Oxford slowly becoming overpopulated, HotWorx benefits from the growing population, creating more spaces for people to work out 24 hours a day.

“We have a huge capacity in terms of workouts because our workouts are more in less time,” HotWorx CEO Stephen Smith said.

HotWorx workouts involve isometrics and high intensity interval training sessions designed to be completed in a small amount of time. Each class is virtually taught inside a small heated room with the instructor following along with the workout on screen.

There is a different workout in each room. These include row, cycle, yoga, Pilates, core, buns, ISO, roll, warrior or Zen. With each room reaching up to 130 degrees, the infrared heat penetrates your body causing you to sweat more and burn more calories.

“I love how different the workouts are and how much you sweat after walking out of a class,” said Carson Cali, a HotWorx member. “I feel like I get more out of a workout and burn more. My mind, body, and skin feel so good after sitting in the hot rooms working out.”

HotWorx owners say the workouts accelerate detoxification by physically removing toxins from your organs through muscle contraction. Not only does the infrared sauna help with muscle movement while working out; it also helps with muscle repair and recovery.

“With the heat, when your core body temperature rises, there is an anabolic effect that speeds up your metabolism,” Smith said, “while the infrared energy has the effect of strengthening and activating the regenerative processes in the human body.”

Each HotWorx session combines the benefits of infrared heat absorption and isometric body postures to maximize fitness results.

When the idea first came to CEO Stephen Smith, he was with his business partner discussing what they want in a workout and what it takes to create the most beneficial fitness program. This inspired the creation of the HotWorx fitness program.

The store opened earlier this year, and Smith didn’t know how successful HotWorx 24-Hour infrared fitness studio would be. With a prime location on the Square, HotWorx is a buzzword around town.

Along with heated rooms, HotWorx provides a cooler area with weights, an assortment of exercise equipment, and more virtual workouts. Although it’s a workout program, these pre-designed workouts can help improve strength, cardio, flexibility, circulation, and immunity, while also burning fat, decreasing muscle recovery time, and increasing metabolism.
