Already becoming a successful business entrepreneur at the age of 19, Alexis Ridgeway is finishing up her freshman year at the University of Mississippi. The Jackson native began selling custom lip products at the beginning of 2017.

“LipSense has made me branch out, become more social, and I have met so many amazing people who I now consider my best friends,” she said.

Ridgeway sells LipSense lip products to people all over the United States, but the majority of her product is sold to female college students at Ole Miss.

“My clients range in age from 15-70, and LipSense is so amazing, because it was made for all age groups to wear,” she said.

LipSense produces long-lasting lipsticks and lipglosses. Ridgeway enjoys working for the company as an Oxford representative. Her favorite part is: “Having a job where I can create my own hours.”

“It’s so awesome to be my own boss, and at the same time, make great money,” she said. “Especially during the school year, it can be hard to find a job to fit perfectly into your schedule, but with LipSense, I can work whenever and wherever I want.”

Individuals buy starter kits to become independent distributors. The company is operated through a company called SeneGence to help distributors recruit team members.

Alexis makes most of her sales through her Instagram account and Facebook page. She motivates buyers by creating special deals, contests, and letting customers know about new colors, or when stock of their favorite color or product is running low.

“LipSense is not the only thing I sell,” she said. ” … I also sell skincare and other makeup products, such as eyeshadow, foundation, mascara, blush, and bronzer. We even came out with a new product called Nail Extend, which helps your nails grow out longer and healthier.”

LipSense products are growing in popularity around Oxford, because of Ridgeway and vendors like herself.

“LipSense is very successful in Oxford, especially before big events like formals and date parties,” she said. “I deliver LipSense all over Oxford and try to keep at least 10 different colors on hand at all times to give my customers variety.”

LipSense is a growing company locally and nationally.

“I think LipSense has affected Oxford in a positive way, because it has allowed for so many high school students, college students, and even adults to have jobs,” said Ridgeway.

Lauren Allan is a regular LipSense customer who has bought several glosses and lipsticks from the company both online and from Oxford sellers.

“These lipsticks are my go-to look,” she said. “There are colors for every situation, from a casual day of class, to hitting the Square on the weekends. My favorite colors are Dark Pink and Champagne. They also recently introduced some new spring and summer colors, which I am very excited about.”

College students often struggle with the financial independence that comes with being away from home for the first time, and working with LipSense has proven to be a great opportunity to make extra spending money for some students.

“I have become more familiar with Oxford through LipSense, and have made many new friends just because of LipSense,” said Ridgeway. “Oxford is a great place to sell LipSense because the company speaks and reaches to all age groups.”

Ridgeway said if you reach a certain sales quota, you win trips. “Right now, my goal is to go on the 2018 Costa Rica trip,” she said.

Ridgeway runs a social media platform under the name “Lex’s Loveable Lips.” You can find her advertisements and sales under her Facebook page and her trendy Instagram handle, @lexslipsense.
