The University of Mississippi recently changed their mascot for all athletics after a student vote.
The decision to have a new mascot was made by the UM Associated Student Body. ASB President Dion Kevin, along with other ASB senators, came up with the bill to change the school mascot.
The ASB had to decide between the Rebel Black Bear, the mascot that followed Colonel Reb, or the Landshark mascot. The vote was online.
After results were tallied, the Landshark mascot won and became the official Ole Miss mascot. Some students around campus are excited.
Ole Miss student Chip Wales said: “I’m excited for the Landhsark. It is something that has been a part of this school for a while and starting with the football team.”
