At the University of Mississippi, Dr. James Stewart facilitates a pharmaceutical lab that focuses on the relationship between Type II diabetes and heart disease.
It’s no secret that parking is a big issue in Oxford. The Square is especially an issue, and even though it is a popular place in Oxford, there are very little areas to park. This leaves the large number of residents, especially during the school year, feeling frustrated, because it is so hard to find a spot to park. The Oxford Board of Alderman have come up with a solution to this problem, a new parking garage.
Oxford local Erin Smith has been working diligently to form Lafayette County’s first CASA chapter. This will be the first chapter in Northern Mississippi.
UM students use their passion and talents to put on NewsWatch Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. Students interested in broadcast and NewsWatch can apply and interview to get on the team.
Watering holes on and off of the Square have prepared their staffs for the Double Decker Festival.
“Ten days before my due date, my mom had to go into emergency c-section,” said Emily Bolling, a University of Mississippi senior speech pathology major. “This was because I was having seizures, and the doctors were afraid I would have a stroke during labor.”
The University of Mississippi’s student run and operated radio station, Rebel Radio, carries on the legacy of radio, while providing students with a musical outlet. The station, broadcasting out of the Student Media Center in Bishop Hall on the Oxford Campus, includes both paid and volunteer jobs.
Many people grow up wanting the newest Ferrari or Lamborghini. Kids’ walls are donned with the posters of these wedge-shaped dream machines capable of speeds never before seen with doors that open up to the sky and a massive engine behind their seat or trucks that can conquer any terrain with ease while coughing out black smoke. Suddenly, however, many kids are dreaming of owning the exact opposite – an all-electric family sedan.
Starting in the bed of an old pickup truck, Sno Biz was among the very first vendors to participate in the Double Decker Music and Arts Festival 23 years ago. The event now draws a crowd of more than 60,000 people with hundreds of vendors lining the streets.
This spring, the Web.com and PGA Tours sanctioned the first annual North Mississippi Classic Golf tournament. The Web.com Tour is a well-renown tour that hosts tournaments in five locations across the United States, including California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and now Mississippi. It was held April 15-22, 2018 at the Country Club of Oxford.
