
Growing up, I was involved in many sports. I played everything from softball to volleyball, cheer to dance, track to soccer, but out of all those, one stood out to me. It was the one sport I couldn’t resist, the greatest game – golf.

“Grow the game” is a phrase often used with golf now. Professionals are doing that. Today’s golfers are competitive, younger, and they win. It keeps things interesting. These young golfers give college students people they can relate to, but there’s a struggle as the sport continues to grow – the fans.
Historically, the Ole Miss Women’s Golf Team has not been expected to have great success. However, all of that changed throughout the course of the 2017-18 season, and the Rebels are redefining expectations for the program while establishing a “new normal.”
Golf, as we know it, has changed drastically over the last 10 years. Why? The outpouring of research and technology that has gone into equipment and practice aids. Because of technology, golfers can hit straighter shots, adjust their lofts, get instant feedback on their shots and more.
Ole Miss junior Beau Briggs is a member of the Ole Miss Golf Team. He finds it challenging and rewarding to be a full time student and athlete and hopes one day to become a professional golfer, but he knows it takes hard work to get there.
Golf. You either love it or you hate it. You may even perceive it to be boring. I did not grow up a golfer, however it is a hobby and a passion I have developed within the last eight years.
