COVID-19 had a more unconventional start for me than it did for many of my friends and peers. It was March of 2020 junior year spring break. I decided to visit my best friend, who was studying abroad in Prague. We planned a week-long trip to travel Prague and different cities in Italy during my time there.
Prince Harry married acclaimed American actress, Meghan Markle, in May this past year. Markle, a divorced, vocal feminist, with a mixed-race heritage is not the stereotypical image of an English royal. She has tastefully broken old traditions. Despite people’s opinions and criticism from the press, she has proven she is taking her new role as the Duchess of Sussex seriously.
Have you ever heard of Brixton? Prime Minister John Major once described the community as a “grey, sullen wasteland, robbing people of their self respect.” It has virtually no green space, was twice ravaged by race riots, and remains one of the most crime-ridden area’s of London. Graffiti lines the roads that policemen speed down almost incessantly.
My trek to my first day of work began rather bleak. A light morning drizzle quickly transformed into a heavy London rain as I walked from the Underground in search of coffee before my day began.
Making the decision to study abroad was one of the most rewarding decisions I have made in my college career thus far. Being in my third year at this university, I came to the decision to study abroad at the beginning of my spring semester of my sophomore year.
